WorldTour time-trial skinsuits: Santini, Pissei, Vorteq and Bioracer, and what really separates them

Within that range, the decisive difference between brands is not the logo, but how well the suit fits the rider’s body.

Abstract. This article compares the aerodynamic approach of the four time-trial skinsuit manufacturers present in the WorldTour —Santini, Pissei, Vorteq and Bioracer— and their real 2026 team associations. Their performance is placed within the documented CdA range for elite suits, and it is argued, in the absence of public controlled brand comparisons, why pattern customisation is the dominant variable.

At WorldTour level, all time-trial suits are excellent: fabrics with zoned calculated roughness, seams positioned away from critical flow lines and jersey-to-shorts integration. The interesting question is not which brand “wins”, but what aerodynamically separates one suit from another when all start from a very high level.

What really separates an aero suit

Above a certain level, the fabric differences between elite manufacturers are small: all use rough materials that force early boundary-layer transition over the arms and shoulders. The factors that do produce measurable differences are:

  • Custom fit. The dominant variable. A suit made on a scan of the rider (Vorteq's approach, and Bioracer's with its Speedwear Concept) eliminates wrinkles and air pockets that a standard-size suit cannot avoid. Aero fabric only works taut.
  • Seam placement. Positioning seams away from attached-flow zones avoids unwanted premature transitions.
  • Integration. Continuity between jersey, shorts and sleeves (highlighted by Pissei in its bodysuit) removes discontinuities that generate drag.
What cannot be claimed. There are no public, controlled comparisons ranking Santini, Pissei, Vorteq and Bioracer by watts on the same rider: each team tests privately and the results are confidential. Any quantitative brand ranking would be speculation. What the evidence does support is that, among elite suits, customisation matters more than the logo.

The takeaway for the rider

A high-end suit from any of these four brands, well fitted to your body, places you in the −0.03 to −0.04 CdA range relative to a neutral kit (of the order of 2-3 minutes over 40 km, as seen in the skinsuit analysis). The same suit with wrinkles or in the wrong size loses much of that advantage. The smart decision is not to chase the peloton's brand, but to guarantee the fit, and to measure your real CdA wearing it.
